Craig Murray of San Gabriel Valley Council, CA, Carol Murray of Long Beach Area Council, CA, and Joe Garrett of Chief Seattle Council, WA, announce their annual Kodiak leadership trek during the week of July 10 through July 17, 2010.  We will be offering Kodiak, Kodiak X and Whitewater Guide Training.  The Kodiak leadership activities incorporated in the courses will be closely aligned with the whitewater rafting activities.  Whitewater Guide Training is open to all Venturers who can demonstrate strong swimming skills and have some experience running rivers in canoes, kayaks or rafts.  This course is designed to give a solid introduction to being a whitewater rafting guide and will provide a challenging and exciting experience.

For the first time, we will also be offering advanced leadership consulting to a select few Venturers who will manage portions of the trek.  For these youth, we will provide an opportunity to fully embrace the Kodiak leadership commissions they have received during previous Kodiak and Kodiak X courses by allowing them to organize and run segments of the trek such as managing the raft setup, determining how to run the river safely each day and organizing the food and meal preparation.

Along with the Kodiak and Whitewater Guide Training, all participants will be fully engaged in making this trip a success - preparing meals, setting up camp, packing the rafts, etc. It is a full week of adventure by and for the Venturers.

Venturing Crew 360 of Snohomish, WA will again host the whitewater portion of the trek - this time on the world famous Salmon River in Idaho.  The Lower Salmon is a 75 mile long class III whitewater river that joins the Snake River and flows through Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

Transportation from the Seattle, WA airport (Sea-Tac, SEA) will be provided.
