Whitewater Logistics
Our treks are noted for the massive amounts of equipment we bring along. We try in every way to make certain everyone is comfortable and has a great time. We bring two complete kitchens, both boys' and girls' river toilet systems, dry-boxes, large ice chests, Dutch ovens, tables, camp chairs, charcoal grills, sun canopies, rain shelters, safety gear, and lots of other stuff.
In order to accommodate all this equipment, we usually team up one large cargo oarboat with each (passenger) paddle raft. This accomplishes several goals, the main one being a set of buddy boats for safety purposes. It also pairs up everyone's personal gear with their paddle raft. Each paddle raft team, then, is responsible for loading and unloading its own gear. You are going to be asked to do a lot of hard work loading and unloading trailers, boats, and trucks. If you are looking for a luxury trip with people waiting on you hand and foot, then this trek is not for you (we mention this only because, surprisingly, this has come up in the past). If you don't want to paddle a raft for 75 miles, or if you need a break, that is a different matter. We will have plenty of room for passengers in the oarboats, where all you have to do is relax and enjoy the ride and the company.
The company is one of the joys of these treks. Many of the Venturers and adults who have been on these treks still maintain contact on Facebook and MySpace. Enduring long distance friendships come out of these treks. I hope you enjoy this experience as much as we do!!
