Trek Schedule

The trek lasts from Saturday evening, July 10 through Saturday, July 17, 2010.

The gathering location is the Campground at Hammer Creek BLM Recreation Site, on the west side of the river from White Bird, Idaho; about 1.5 miles off of Highway 95.  Information for the campground can be found at:

The gathering time will be after dinner on Saturday.  Sunday will also begin our preparation for the trek.  The preparation will include breaking into crews which will be assigned responsibilities for the week including cooking and sanitation.  A large part of your training will include trek management, cooking, keeping food safely, logistics, campsite planning, and Leave No Trace camping.

The plans are to teach the Kodiak X at the beginning of the trek followed by Kodiak and guide school.  We will have a layover day in the middle of the week for enjoyment and two Kodiak commissions.  Kodiak X will be offered to the Venturers who have taken Kodiak in previous years.  Kodiak X is not available for first timers, as it is not intended to be taught concurrently with the basic course.  After Kodiak X, we will have practical guide training (actual guiding!).  Trek plans will be adjusted as needed.

On the last evening on the river, we will have a recognition dinner for Kodiak and Kodiak X participants.  At that time, we will also ask if anyone is interetested becoming a Corps of Discovery member by comiting to grow the Venturing program.
