Getting Prepared

As you walk into the room for your Eagle Board, look sharp in your uniform.  It is the board's first impression.  A few of simple items to remember:

  • Uniform should be clean and pressed.
  • All patches should be fully sewn on.  (A hanging patch leaves a poor impression.)
  • Patches should be in their correct location.
  • Wear your troop's full uniform which should include a belt and a neckerchief.
  • An OA sash is not part of the uniform as this is not an OA event.

Studying Eagle Board of Review questions can be helpful but I would suggest that the best things to relearn are the requirements for Scout (before it became a rank, found here - usscouts.org/advance/boyscout/old/bsrank).  Those requirements are the basis for the entire program and a scout with indepth knowledge will do well.  Think about it; you have to know and explain the Oath, Law, Badge and a few more things.  Do you think knowing those requirements well will help you?

Do think about how you will answer questions related to a 'Scout is Reverent'.  You can have any belief you want but no belief is not acceptable.

In my 10 years as a Scoutmaster, I had 29 boys received Eagle.  We did not have an Eagle factory, just opportunities, good guidance and lots of fun.
